Who We Are
Founded in 2018, Blockchain at UCSB (BCUCSB) is a community of passionate students from every background with the same goal: to learn more about blockchain.
Do I have to be a Computer Science major to join? NO, everyone motivated and willing to learn is welcome! Our team consists of students from various fields: Computer Science, Global Studies, Economics, and more.
You can join us through shoreline or follow our Twitter and Facebook group.
What We Do
We work with faculty on campus to start accredited blockchain classes. Given the highly interdisciplinary nature of blockchain, we source speakers from the industry to come in as guest lecturers. We also host speaker events, workshops, and conferences to bring blockchain awareness to our local community.
Education Opportunities
BCUCSB hosts meetings and workshops that teach about both technical and social aspects of the technology, such as: building on the blockchain, developing decentralized applications, crypto-economics, decentralized governance, environmental applications, and much more. In collaboration with the Blockchain Acceleration Foundation (BAF), we started the first accredited blockchain course on campus.
Are you an executive interested in learning more about blockchain? Earn a professional certificate in Blockchain from UCSB extension school. Learn more about the course here.
Meetings and Workshops
BCUCSB partners with multiple companies, like Consensys and Blockchain University, and campus organizations, such as the Technology Management Program, to co-host events. This is a great opportunity for students to build your network and experience the many opportunities the blockchain industry has to offer.
Events
BCUCSB organizes multiple events with high-profile speakers from the industry and academia. For example, last year we hosted the Santa Barbara Blockchain Summit that included speakers from Cambridge Analytica, Orchid Labs, CoinTelegraph, and more.
Moreover, BCUCSB frequently offers its members free or discounted tickets to blockchain conferences, such as Crypto Invest Summit, Viva La Crypto!, and International Association for Cryptologic Research Crypto 2018 Conference.
