WHAT WE DO
Regular Meetings and Workshops
BCUCSB holds regular meetings and workshops that cover numerous topics such as Solidity coding for developers, environmental applications of the blockchain, and app building.
BCUCSB partners with multiple campus organizations such as TMP (Technology Management Program), progressional fraternities, annual conventions to cohost events.
We also collaborate with blockchain acceleration groups such as Consensys and Blockchain University for educational blockchain resources.
Tickets to conferences & events
BCUCSB frequently offers its members free or discounted tickets to blockchain conferences, such as Crypto Invest Summit, Viva La Crypto!, and International Association for Cryptologic Research Crypto 2018 Conference.
Blockchain at UCSB (BCUCSB) is a community of students, entrepreneurs, and academics at UC Santa Barbara who have come together to educate and bring awareness about compelling blockchain technology and its applications. We host workshops, speaker events, innovation competitions, and socials to bring blockchain awareness to our local community.
Mission Statement: To provide a robust blockchain ecosystem for UC Santa Barbara students and community members that facilitates education, discussion, and networking.
Vision Statement: Our vision is to expand blockchain awareness among diverse interdisciplinary fields of study to encourage more people to become involved in important blockchain projects.
MEET THE TEAM
BCUCSB collaborated with UCSB Innovation Council and other campus organizations to put together a one-day campus event (November 17, 2018) designed to foster and harness creative thinking and develop a innovative business model to improve problems found in global categories such as energy, sustainability, income inequality, digital security, and health. At the event, BCUCSB members explained real-world blockchain applications and also encouraged students to explore incorporating blockchain models in their creative business ideas. On a speaker panel of industry leaders, we interviewed Robert Greenfield, the Technical Director at Consensys, which is the leading firm within the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency markets.
SB Hacks — January 11-13, 2019
BCUCSB partnered with SB Hacks to help coordinate UCSB’s annual hackathons where students spend 36 hours designing an innovative project. At the event, BCUCSB members explained real-world blockchain applications and also encouraged students to explore incorporating blockchain models in their creative business ideas.
